Wailana is a third generation, Big Island born, Realtor. Her experience in real estate began as a young child at the Herbst Realty office where her grandmother was the broker and her mother and uncle worked as agents.
Prior to becoming licensed, Wailana worked at the Hawaii Island Board of REALTORS, getting to know other agents and supporting the staff. She also worked in property management before being recruited to work with the Big Island Housing Foundation, which specializes in housing for low income, disabled and elderly tenants. During this time Wailana attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.
Immediately after graduating, in 2005, she activated her license and became a full time agent with RE/MAX Properties. There she gained valuable experience in probate sales, variance and rezoning projects with the county, and new development projects. Wailana earned notable awards and designations while also volunteering with the Hawaii Island Board of REALTORS and serving on their board for seven consecutive years as a Director, Treasurer and eventually as the President in 2013.
She continued to develop her leadership skills by attending and graduating from the Hawaii Association of Realtors Leadership Academy. After six years of full time work, Wailana moved companies where she continued to grow her business and benefit from repeat clientele. She remained a volunteer with her local and state associations, eventually serving as Treasurer of the Hawaii Association of REALTORS. She feels it is her duty to volunteer and give back to the associations who have given so much to their members. In 2014, Wailana moved to North Kohala and expanded her service area to include the entire east coast of the island. In the summer of 2015, she became an official resident of the community when she married her long time friend and partner who grew up in Kapa'au.
Shortly after, Wailana choose to move to Corcoran Pacific Properties where she bring with her, extensive local knowledge and respect for the island. She specializes in working with VA clients and friends, making their dreams of property ownership come true in this place we call home. When she takes time to herself, Wailana enjoys dancing Hula with her halau and spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, surfing and gardening.
Wailana was recently recognized for her volunteer work, as The 2017 REALTOR of the year by the Hawaii Island Realtors Association.
